What is the most popular liposuction technique?
The real question here is: what is the best liposuction technique for me? While there are many different dazzling technologies out there, patients should seek out a surgeon who makes them feel comfortable and confident about the procedure. The various liposuction technologies that are available today can’t make up for a lack of skill. At the Chicago Liposuction Specialty Clinic, we offer a number of different liposuction technologies that are used to enhance our surgical skills, not replace them. We combine liposuction technologies to ensure that patients get the best results from their procedure.
Below are the liposuction technologies that we focus on at our clinic:
Laser technologies are used to melt fat before extracting it from the body. It can also be used to encourage collagen growth and tighten the skin. Lasers can be used to cauterize blood vessels during the procedure and therefore prevent a lot of bleeding, swelling, and bruising. We use laser technologies most often to target excess fat in the hips, back of the neck, thighs, and waist.
Water Liposuction (Water Lipo®)
Water liposuction is a popular technology because it’s very gentle and therefore safer for our patients. Using a pressurized water jet, the surgeon is able to loosen fat cells before suctioning them out of the body. The process is fast and the benefits include smooth, natural-looking results, and a short recovery period.
Power-assisted liposuction is performed using a cannula with an attached spinning rotation device that can help break up very stubborn areas of excess fat. This type of technology is most often used to target fatty deposits in fibrous areas of the body.
What makes Water Lipo different than other procedures?
Water Liposuction is one of the gentlest fat extraction methods. Using only a stream of pressurized water and a suctioning tool, we are able to create smooth curves that look and feel natural. There are a number of advantages to using water liposuction technology including:
1. We use a mild sedative and local anesthesia. Patients don’t undergo the risk of general anesthesia.
2. Water lipo produces smoother results than those obtained by scraping or forcefully removing the fat with the cannula.
3. Less tumescent numbing solution is needed.
Fat Transfer and Water Liposuction
Many patients ask us if they can transfer fat from an area of the body that has too much to an area of the body that has too little. Using water liposuction, the answer is a resounding YES! Water liposuction works to remove fat gently which means that fat cells remain intact. As a result, these fat cells can easily be primed for transfer to other areas of the body.
These are some of the Fat Transfer procedures we perform:
- Fat Transfer to the buttocks (aka Brazilian Butt Lift – BBL)
- Fat Transfer to the breasts – for a natural breast augmentation using the patients own fat instead of implants.
- Fat Transfer to the face – to create a more youthful appearance.
